Profile

Mort: I was born in 1969 and have lived most of my life in Denmark. After finishing university degrees in political science and applied social policy research I worked for the Danish Government as a policy researcher for four years. However, my belief is that the purpose of life isn't excessive acquisition of material items, seeking status through work, or being a servant of the system. Therefore, I moved to Northumberland with Sarah and Roo in 2002. We live in a farm cottage from around the 1890s, grow our own vegetables and enjoy life as best as we can. (The photo is an accidentally blurred but deliberately chosen picture of Mort with the farm's new sheep dog puppy Sweep).

Sarah: I was born in England in 1969, but have lived in different parts of the world until settling in Northumberland. I try to live a minimal impact life free from cruelty; i.e. living by principles that could preserve the Earth for future generations of all species. The most important ingredient of such a life is being vegan. (The photo is of Sarah pottering in the front garden of our house).

Roo: The loveliest cat to ever have lived was born on the 12th of August 1995 (estimate). She was adopted by Sarah from a cat shelter in late 1995 and met Mort a month later. She was the most important part of our lives for 10 years until she, inexplicably, died in her sleep on the 14th of December 2005. (The photo is of Roo in her favourite sleeping position).
